The Benefit of Giving Through Retirement Plans
Retirement plans ensure maximum benefits for you, your family, and Texas Physicians Resource Council by:
- Avoiding double taxation: estate and income taxes
- Helping perpetuate work that you believe is vital for future generations
- Allocating the funds that you saved over a lifetime towards a great cause
How to Give Through Retirement Plans
Your retirement plans, including IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keogh and SEP, are considered part of your taxable estate at death. Did you know that this plan may be subject to taxes in excess of 70 percent or more? Careful planning can help you minimize or even eliminate these taxes. One way is to use the amounts left from retirement plans for charitable use, which are fully deductible from the estate as charitable gifts.
Rather than see retirement assets diluted by taxes, you can direct these assets to be used to make charitable gifts from your estate. After you have discussed your estate and financial plans with your advisor and decide to make a gift from these assets, the procedure is very simple. Ask your retirement plan administrator for a Change of Beneficiary form, and simply insert Texas Physicians Resource Council's name and the amount or percentage to be given to the ministry. You can change your beneficiary designation or distributions at any time.
